Q – Why does PROGRESS in the Social Sciences feature five disciplines?
A – PROGRESS is funded by a collaboration project between the Social Science Research Council and five disciplinary associations for use by their members. The focus of the site is material specific to these five academic disciplines – Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology, but the resources may be valuable from scholars across many fields of study.
Q – Why focus on equity and inclusion in the social sciences?
A – Most research and public conversation about equity and inclusion issues within the academy are targeted at STEM fields. Similar issues exist in the social sciences, but often fail to garner the same amount of public recognition. By creating a resource specifically for social scientists, we hope to help bridge this gap and highlight some of the valuable research being done in these areas of study.
